Ancestor Series

These pages reflects our effort to recall and honor the Original Members of the Order, as well as those ancestors of members who were not Original Members. Members of The Order are encouraged to submit a brief, but thorough biography of respective ancestors, with emphasis on each veteran's service in the Indian Wars.

To the right is Major General John Alexander McClernand who is represented by Mclernand Crawford, a General Officer of OIWUS.  Major General McClernand served as a private in the Blackhawk Indian War, and later served the Union during the Civil War.  We hope to display the photographs and portraits of many more ancestors as the site grows, so please check back as the stories of these brave soldiers begins to unfold.
